Fresno County Supervisor Garry Bredefeld used his role as Board chairman to make public safety the theme of the upcoming State of the County event and helped create an action-movie-style promotional video featuring himself. The $7,000 chamber-funded production has drawn both praise for its creativity and criticism over its use of law-enforcement imagery and its focus on Bredefeld as the star.
The FDA has withdrawn its earlier claim that a Taylor Farms lettuce sample tested positive for Cyclospora, saying the test result was a false positive. While the agency still suspects lettuce in the Taco Bell supply chain may be involved, there is currently no laboratory-confirmed food sample tying the parasite to the outbreak, and investigators are continuing to search for definitive proof.
